Sarabjit to be released soon

Asif Ali Zardari has ordered release of Indian Terrorist Sarabjit Singh a.k.a Manjit Singh accused of Lahore & Multan bombings that killed 14 people. Asif Ali Zardari as President of Pakistan has the power to pardon from Death penalty to Life Prison to anyone accused of even murder. Anti-terrorism court of Pakistan has already awarded Manjit (Sarabjit) death penalty in 1991, but due to uncertain reasons his hanging was repeatedly postponed till now until Zardari ordered his release. His death penalty was converted into life imprisonment, which is of 14 years and Sarabjit has already spend 22 years in Kot Lakpat Jail in Lahore.

Pakistan ranks 13 in Failed States

WASHINGTON: Pakistan has been ranked 13th in the latest ranking of failed states.The failed state ranking compiled by the famous Foreign Policy magazine is topped by Somalia with 114.9 points, followed by Congo, Sudan, Chad & Zimbabwe .Neighbouring Afghanistan  is ranked number 6, followed by Haiti, and few Arab countries like Yemen, Iraq and Central African Republic.Pakistan is ranked 13, with a better position compared with the last two years. In 2011 it was ranked 12th, while in 2010 and 2009 it was at 10th position. Robert D Kaplan, the chief geopolitical analyst at Stratfor said: "The country is run by civilian elite that steals all it can and pays almost no taxes, the absence of the state makes for 20-hour daily electricity blackouts and an almost nonexistent education system in many areas".

Fauzia Wahab passes away

PPP's senior leader Fauzia Wahab died after remaining under treatment at a local hospital in Karachi for three weeks on Sunday.She underwent a gall bladder surgery at a local hospital in Karachi which leads to serious post-operative complications and proved fatal for her. Her funeral prayer will be offered after Zohar prayers on Monday at Sultan Masjid in Defence Ph IV, Karachi. On her tragic demise, PPP has announced a 10-day mourning

Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani while addressing a public meeting in Mardan, said anti-PPP schemes began since it came to power while attempts had also been made to defeat PPP in the general elections.He said that those who accused PPP-led government of giving no respect to institutions should not forget that while they enjoyed royal amnesty in Jeddah it was PPP that stood by the people of Pakistan.

Al-Qaeda No. 2 killed in Drone Strike

Abu Yahya al-libi Al-Qaeda Deputy, and second in command after Ayeman al-Zawahri, Abu-Yahya al-Libi is believed to be killed in a drone strike on Monday, June 4th, 2012 in North Waziristan with 15 other people. It is to be noted that  Abu Yahya al-Libi was arrested by Pakistani forces in 2002, a year after 9/11 attack, & was handed over to the Americans but in 2005, he managed to escape from a maximum security American Detention centre at Bagram Airbase after picking a lock and dodging guards there.

20 Insurgents killed at Salala Check post

S ecurity forces killed at least 20 insurgents in retaliation to an attack on the Salala outpost mear Mohmand Agency during the early hours of Tuesday while one security official was also martyred in the battle with four others injured. It is the same outpost where US forces had martyred more than two dozen Pakistani soldiers last year with heavy firing with gunship helicopters.

Hosni Mubarak Sentenced to life in prison

Former Egyptian Military Commander and Ruler Hosni Mubarak was sentenced to life time prison on Saturday for his role in killing protestors. However, this judgement on one side brings about the  hope of getting rid of orthodox rulers among oppressed but on the other side it raises a question that whether if this change can bring about a positive impact specially on Islamic countries around the world. Time will tell.
