PRESIDENTS OF PAKISTAN




Iskander Mirza(1956-1958)
1. Iskander Mirza(23rd March, 1956 to 27th October 1958): 

He is the Last Governer General of Pakistan and became the first President of Pakistan after the 1956 Constitution was implemented. He was deposed by Gen. Ayub Khan in 1958 Coup d'etat 







2. Ayub Khan (8th June 1962 to 25th March 1969) 


He was the Chief Martial Law Administration appointed by Iskander Mirza in 1957. He came into power by Coup d'etat in 1958 deposing President Iskander Mirza. He resigned from his position in 1969 under pressure from the Opposition.





3. Yahya Khan (25th March 1969 to 20th December 1971):



He took office after the resignation of Ayub Khan and resigned in 1971 after Pakistan's defeat to India.










4. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (20th December 1971 to 13th August 1973)

He was appointed as President of Pakistan after Yahya Khan's Resignation in 1971. However, he resigned as President and became Prime Minister after 1973 Constitution was implemented.









5. Fazal Ilahi Chaudhry (14th August 1973 to 16th September 1978):




He was the First Elected President as per 1973 Constitution. However, he resigned from his post in 1978 and handed over the presidency to Gen. Zia ul Haq.







6. Zia-ul-Haq (16th September 1978 to 17th August 1988):



He took the de facto control of Pakistan by leading 1977 coup d'etat. He was Pakistan's longest serving Head of State until his death in 1988 Plane Crash.







7.Ghulam Ishaq Khan (17th August 1988 to 18 July 1993):



He took office after death of President Zia ul Haq in 1988. He tried to overthrow Nawaz Sharif Government in 1993 but Supreme Court overturned his decision. He resigned with Nawaz Sharif under agreement brokered by Army.







(CT).Wasim Sajjad (18th July 1993 to 14th November 1993): 





He was the Chairman Senate and took Power as acting President in 1997.









8. Farooq Laghari (14th November 1993 to 2 December 1997):



He was the Elected President after resignation of Ghulam Ishaq Khan and came into power in 1993. He was also known to have clashes with Nawaz Sharif and finally resigned in 1997.








(CT). Wasim Sajjad (2 December 1997 to 1 January 1998): 


He again took power as Acting President second time after the resignation of Farooq Laghari in 1997.










9. Muhammad Rafiq Tarar (1st January 1998 to 20th June 2001):
 


He was the 9th Constitutional President of Pakistan who resigned in 2001.









10. Pervaiz Musharraf (20th June 2001 to 18th August 2008):



He took de facto control over the country in 1999 coup d'etat. He resigned as President of Pakistan to avoid impeachment in 2008.









(CT). Muhammad Mia Soomro (18th August 2008 to 9th September 2008):


He was Chairman Senate at the time when Musharraf resigned. So he became acting President for less than a month.










11. Asif Ali Zardari (9th September 2008 to 8th September 2013):



He is the elected President of Pakistan after the resignation of Pervaiz Musharraf. His tenure soon to expire by 8th of September 2013.










12. Mamnoon Hussain (8th September 2013 to 7th September 2018):



He is elected as 12th President of Pakistan. He will take power on 8th September 2013.

Pakistan ranks 13 in Failed States

WASHINGTON: Pakistan has been ranked 13th in the latest ranking of failed states.The failed state ranking compiled by the famous Foreign Policy magazine is topped by Somalia with 114.9 points, followed by Congo, Sudan, Chad & Zimbabwe .Neighbouring Afghanistan  is ranked number 6, followed by Haiti, and few Arab countries like Yemen, Iraq and Central African Republic.Pakistan is ranked 13, with a better position compared with the last two years. In 2011 it was ranked 12th, while in 2010 and 2009 it was at 10th position. Robert D Kaplan, the chief geopolitical analyst at Stratfor said: "The country is run by civilian elite that steals all it can and pays almost no taxes, the absence of the state makes for 20-hour daily electricity blackouts and an almost nonexistent education system in many areas".

Pakistan has the potential to Produce 150,000MW through wind only

Recent report by USAID (United Stated Agency for International Development) says that Pakistan has the potential of producing approximately 150,000MW of wind energy with just the investment of around two billion dollars. According to USAID official it is estimated, that Pakistan has the potential to generate 143,000MW through solar and wind energy. Investing to Wind Power Plants and Solar Panels will not just reduce electricity shortages but also will ease the burden of importing oil.  Research says that the fair category of wind speed in most parts of the world is between 6.2m/s and 6.9m/s. However, the wind speed in the Sindh corridor is stronger and stands in the category of 7.5m/s and 7.7m/s.  The goverment of Sindh has a plan to develop 2500MW of energy with this by 2015. The report further said that Pakistan has identified cumulative potential to generate 3.2 million MW from renewable energy resources which comprises of 340,000MW from wind, 2.9 millio
